Over 60 years ago, at a time when America was desperate for gasoline, war bonds and a few good men, something extraordinary happened. Thousands of young Americans quit their jobs and left the safety of their homes and families to go to Sweetwater, Texas. They came by car, by bus, hitched or rode the train, and they all paid their own way. They came because their country needed them and because they loved to fly.
